Eczema

Eczema is a chronic skin condition, that leaves the outer layer of the the skin very ichy, dry and scaly.

Symptoms are very irriatating and include dry patches, inflamed skin and lesions with crusting. Pigment can effect both light and dark skin.

It is believed that between 9-30% of americans suffer from the condition, mostly being young infants and children. Although most will outgrow it by the age of 2, some will suffer throughout the rest of their life.

Areas that are usually infected are cheeks, elbows and knees mostly, although patches can show up anywhere.

What is the cause?

While the exact cause is unknown, the "breakouts and flare ups" and beeen linked to :

- Body's immunity reactions

- Tempurature (too hot or cold)

- Rough texture contacting skin

- Sensitivity to household like products

What are the treatments?

Depending on how severe the symptoms, determines the kind of treatment that will be reccomdended. They can range from lotion, creams, hydrocortisone for over the counters.

Prescriptions canrange from steroids, photo therapy, topical and other oral supplements.

Although the symptoms are mild to harsh, you should see your doctor so that you may properly diagnosed with eczema, Regular treatment will help controll the flare ups.
