Chemical Peel vs Cosmetic Peel
Chemical Peel The acids are usually made of Phenol, Lactic, Glycolic, Trychlorical (TCA), Alpha Hydroxy, Beta and others. We'll keep our focus on these for now. Some peels will start to work in minutes while other take days to work. Like the TCA, the Phenol treatment depending the strength of the acids they take up to 21 days for full results. They are both performed dermatologist, or even surgeons. Alpha Hydroxy, Lactic, Glycolic acids are used to use the exfoliate the epidermis, which is outer layer of the skin. Choosing an acid can depend on skin color and sensitivity. Are they painful? Depending on the grade and strength, and personal pain tolerance, some reqiure anesthesia, some you will barely feel, but are still very effective! Most people will express discomfort rather than pain. Are they safe? it is very important to do a patch test before getting or performing a peel, especially if you have never used that particular acid/ strength berfore. That being said peels can very safe if used correctly and are performed by a professional. Cosmetic Peel Uses very low doses of acids (about 2%) mostly made natural ingredients such as eucalyptus and thyme, and antiseptics to aid the healing process, it is safe enough for the client to perform on themselves. You are able to take off up to four layers of skin without the chemicals ever penetrating below the epidermis. Also it only take 6 days to do, so there was no down time.
